LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An earthquake-ravaged and potentially radioactive Japan has yet to deter passengers from filling up most of the flights leaving LAX for Tokyo.
KNX 1070′s Pete Demetriou reports the benefits of reuniting with relatives back home far outweighs the risks.
Tokiko Crawford was one of the anxious passengers getting on board the near-capacity Japan Airlines Flight 61 to Tokyo.
Her parents live with her sister some 35 miles away from the nuclear reactors that were heavily damaged, so she has some concerns about radioactive contamination in the area.
In her luggage, Crawford was bringing sanitary supplies and other goods for them, and said she was planning to stay for at least a couple of months to help them recover.
